In his presentation, Small discussed the differences between metal-polymer bearings and rolling element, leaded-bronze and bi-metallic bearings, including structure, clearance ranges and performance. Also covered were lubrication and compressor design and efficiency. He concluded that properly designed metal-polymer bearings can provide a more reliable solution than traditional journal bearings, and that further advances in polymer science and material technologies will yield even more robust metal-polymer bearings for compressor applications. | |
