DP4™ makes the difference in new Pontiac G8 differential

The November 2007 issue of Motor Trend magazine features the new Pontiac G8 rear-drive sport sedan, which in turn features GGB’s DP4 bearings in its differential. The article by Matt Stone, executive editor, notes, “There are also some new bushing materials for the rear end, so the differential is being swapped.”

Although DP4 is not mentioned out per se, the GGB Automotive Sales Team was instrumental in having one of General Motors’ Tier 1 suppliers of axle/differential components specify it for the company’s global rear-wheel-drive chassis architecture, which will be used in future GM rear-wheel-drive vehicles. Field and bench testing showed the DP4 material helps reduce noise levels and friction in driveline systems.

The material is used in a variety of other automotive applications as well, including McPherson struts and shock absorbers, gearbox selector fork guides, wiper arms and power steering pumps. Click here for the full article.
